Connaught New Researcher Awards recognize 53 faculty members across University of Toronto

The University of Toronto has recognized 53 faculty members across the three campuses with the Connaught New Researcher Award.

I am elated to receive this award and recognition for my work, said Kyle Ganson of the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, . My hope is that these findings will help promote the health and well-being of young people by ensuring that assessment and treatment protocols are informed and resources are allocated appropriately.

Designed to help winners establish a strong research program and increase their competitiveness for external funding, the award is and is part of 勛圖惇蹋s commitment to fostering excellence in research and innovation by supporting faculty members who are in the early stages of their academic careers.

These researchers are doing important and innovative work across the humanities, life sciences, physical sciences, engineering and social sciences, said Professor Leah Cowen, 勛圖惇蹋s associate vice-president, research. Kaja Jasinskas research will help us understand the impact of interrupted schooling on the development neural systems for reading of resettled refugee children. Kevin Whites work on decolonizing Haudenosaunee oral history will develop collaborative research methods with Six Nations of the Grand River and Yun William Yu will develop new mathematical algorithms and computer software for analyzing genome sequences. 

They along with 50 other faculty members across the university will create knowledge that has a significant impact on peoples lives, thanks to the support of the Connaught Fund.
