Professor Normand Labrie receives honorary degree from Université du Québec

Professor Normand Labrie, associate dean of programs at OISE, has received an honorary degree from the Université du Québec à Rimouski.
Labrie received the honor in recognition of his “remarkable contribution to the development of Francophone studies and the promotion of the French language, as well as for the substantial role he played in the creation of the first autonomous French-language university in Ontario” the university said in a statement.
A Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and Chevalier of the Order of La Pléiade, Assembly of Parliamentarians of the Francophonie, Labrie is an expert in bilingualism and multilingualism, linguistic politics, linguistic minorities, language contact, and discourse analysis. He has been a professor at OISE since 1991.
